Dr. James M. White has international stature in the areas of family development as a result of his 1991 book Dynamics of Family Development (Japanese edition 1994) and as one of the leading family theorists as a result of his 1996 book, Family Theories with David Klein of Notre Dame University and his recent books Advancing Family Theories (2004) and Families in Canada(Third Edition, 2005), with colleagues Lyle Larson, Walter Goltz and Brenda Munro. He has also served as an associate editor for the International Encyclopedia of Marriage and Families 2nd Edition. He was recognized in 2004 by the National Council on Family Relations as a lifetime Fellow for his contributions to the study of families. As of January 1, 2009, Dr. White is the Editor of the Journal of Comparative Family Studies.
