Ms. Seijts is a lecturer in the Management Communications area group and a lecturer in Engineering Communications at the Faculty of Engineering, Western University. She received her B.A and M.A and a B.Ed from the University of Toronto. Prior to arriving at Ivey, Ms. Seijts was the Coordinator and English Language Specialist at the Writing Support Services from 2000 to 2009 at Western University. She has over 17 years experience teaching professional and technical writing and oral communications courses to both undergraduates and graduate students at Western University as well as the University of Manitoba. Ms. Seijts is credited with starting the first summer university transition program in academic writing in Canada and is the co-author of A Concise Guide to Technical Communications First Canadian Edition and Second Canadian Edition (forthcoming). Ms. Seijts has also authored numerous business cases in the area of Management Communications.
Ms. Seijts has developed a consulting business in technical and professional communications geared to the Engineering and High-tech sector and has conducted workshops for J.D. Irving, Lanxess, Toronto Hydro, the Ready Mixed Concrete Association of Ontario, Ontario Power Authority, CIBC, the Agricultural Bank of China, The National Conference on Women in Engineering, and The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers. Ms. Seijts is a regular invited speaker to post-secondary institutions and conferences and often speaks on such topics as Millennials in the Workplace, The Importance of Teaching Writing and Oral Communication Skills for Future Job Success, Business Presentation and Communication Skills Training, and Are You Reaching Your Audience?: Plain Language for Business Success. Ms. Seijts is a member of the Board of Directors for The Sunshine Foundation of Canada and is a freelance writer and professional member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada.
