Waldfogel, a former child protective services worker who holds four degrees from Harvard University, has written on the impact of public policies on child and family well-being. Her research examines studies of work-family policies such as family leave, inequality in early childhood care and education, and child abuse and neglect. Her most recent book is What Children Need, in which she proposes a new plan to better the lives of children in working families.
