Born and raised in India, Dr. Jaya graduated with a BA (Hons.) in sociology from the University of Delhi, and an MA in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics. After working for a few years as a manager in the insurance industry, Dr. Jaya earned a PhD in business administration at the University of Rhode Island, specializing in organizational behavior and international management.
Dr. Jaya's background in sociology has led her to several cross-cultural research opportunities. She is currently researching the social and organizational implications of India's caste system, investigating such phenomena as its effect on company hierarchy and employee communication. As a professor with the Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Jaya has enjoyed bringing an international perspective to the various courses she has taught. These courses include international management, compensation issues in human resource management, principles of management, industrial and organizational psychology, strategic management, organizational behavior and human resource management.
