Dr. Taylor is a pharmacist and academic with interest in minor illnesses and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. He has accrued pharmacy practice experience in nursing homes, hospital practice, then exclusively in typical community pharmacies. Current involvement is devoted solely to minor illnesses in a local pharmacy. He received B.S.P. (1981) and M.Sc. (1991) degrees from the University of Saskatchewan and a Ph.D. degree from Auburn University (1998). Since 1983, his academic teaching has focused mainly on over the counter (OTC) medicines and minor illnesses. He has drafted several chapters for the Canadian Self-Care reference, has spoken at provincial and national meetings, and has published on the topic in journals. His research endeavours have focussed on how often people self-medicate, involvement by pharmacists during the sale, the ability of the public to self-medicate, and how consumers interpret side effects of such medicines.
