Jeff Webb specializes in the history of Newfoundland and the history of the mass media. Following an early interest in the political history he became interested in the ways that the mass media created a sense of community and identity. This led to several articles on aspects of the history of the confederation debate and a book on the social history of radio broadcasting. Recently, he has been conducting research on the history of the writing of the Dictionary of Newfoundland English.
