Jennifer L. Temple can speak to the media about a range of topics related to nutrition and wellness, including the effects of caffeine and energy drink use.As a neurobiologist and director of the Nutrition and Health Research Laboratory at UB, she has researched the ways in which caffeine affects boys and girls differently. She led one of the first studies to report such gender differences in response to caffeine.Temple’s studies also reveal clues as to why caffeinated beverages are more appealing to teenagers, even if they don’t know that the drink contains caffeine. She can speak on a range of other topics, such as what motivates our decisions to eat the foods we consume, as well as nutrition labeling, food pricing, the relationship between exercise and eating, and how chewing gum affects eating.Temple’s work has been featured in the New York Times, NBC News and LiveScience.com, among other media outlets.
