Jocelyn Hollander is an academic expert in the prevention of sexual assault and other forms of violence against women. Her recent research investigates the effectiveness of women’s self-defense training for preventing sexual assault, both on college campuses and in the larger community. She developed and co-teaches the University of Oregon’s empowerment self-defense classes, taught through the Department of PE and Rec. She is also an expert in interactional approaches to gender and preparing graduate students to teach. At the University of Oregon, she is a professor of sociology.
