Johannes M. Baueristhe Chairman of Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies,
and Media at Michigan State University. He also serves as the Director of Special Programs of
the Quello Center for Telecommunication Management and Law. Trained as an engineer and
economist, he holds MA and PhD degrees in economics from the Vienna University of
Economics, Austria. After time as a visiting student at the University of California, Berkeley and
at Columbia University, he joined Michigan State University in 1990. He also held positions as
visiting professor at the Technical University of Delft, Netherlands, the University of Konstanz,
Germany, andmostrecently theUniversity of Zurich, Switzerland.
