Professor Claxton is the founding director of the Ch'nook Aboriginal Business Program, a joint venture between the UBC First Nations House of Learning and the Sauder School of Business. The program was initiated in 2002 with support from Terasen Gas and the Vancouver Foundation. Initial steps addressed the need for a strong Aboriginal Advisory Board, and developed teaching partnerships with post-secondary institutes across the province. Current efforts focus on the Ch'nook Scholars Program in support of Aboriginal participation in business diploma and degree education, and the Ch'nook Advanced Management Program, part-time business studies for Aboriginal community members.
