Bio/Research

Dr Presley studies the transport and sorting of proteins in the secretory pathway and the role of coat proteins (e.g., COPI, clathrin adaptins) in the sorting processes that occur in the Golgi apparatus. He is currently studying the role of the coat protein COPI in Golgi organization, and in neuronal cells the roles of clathrin and clathrin-associated molecules (such as adaptins and GGA's) in sorting of proteins to specialized domains. He uses confocal and fluorescent techniques to image proteins fluorescently tagged with GFP. Techniques employed include direct imaging of protein trafficking, also photobleach-based and other biophysical techniques.
