Bio/Research

Professor Michie is a member of Council of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS); a member of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Advisory Forum on the implications of employment regulation; Director of the Oxford Centre for Mutual and Employee-owned Business at Kellogg; and a Director of Mutuo, a think-tank for the co-operative and mutual sector.

His publications include The Political Economy of Competitiveness: Essays on employment, public policy and corporate performance (with M. Kitson, 2000) the edited 2-Volume Reader's Guide to the Social Sciences (2001), The Handbook of Globalisation (2003, 2011), and The Political Economy of the Environment (2011). He is an editor of several academic journals including the Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy & Society for whom he co-edited the July 2008 issue on Innovation, Networks & Knowledge Exchange.
