Bio/Research

I am an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies. My latest book, Reading the Comments: Likers, Haters, and Manipulators at the Bottom of the Web, was published in April 2015 by The MIT Press. I also published a book about Good Faith Collaboration: The Culture of Wikipedia in 2010. I’m currently working on life hacking, geek feminism, and “FOMO”. I’m honored to serve on the advisory board of the Ada Initiative (“supporting women in open technology and culture”). I’ve also had the pleasure of being a fellow (in 1998 and 2010) and faculty associate at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard.
