Judith Raiskin is an academic expert in LGBTQ studies, disability studies, and postcolonial literature. She is currently conducting filmed interviews for The Eugene Lesbian Oral History Project, housed in the University of Oregon Special Collections and Archives. She has completed over 75 interviews with lesbians who lived in Eugene between 1965 and 1995, most of whom are now in their 60s, 70s, and 80s. These interviews will be available through Oregon Digital and will be transcribed and linked to the journals, photographs, letters, diaries, and physical records related to the collective businesses, communal living, and cultural productions of these communities. She has also published on same-sex parenting: "Parenting Without Protection: How Legal Status Ambiguity Affects Gay and Lesbian Parenthood." Relying on interviews with gay, lesbian and transgender parents, this project examines how, in the context of legal instability, these parents make use of legal and extra-legal resources to secure their family relationships.
