Bio/Research

Judy Major-Girardin is an artist and Associate Professor who has taught in the Honours Art Program at McMaster University since 1983. She has a BFA from the University of Windsor and an MFA from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

She has exhibited her paintings and print media works in solo and group exhibitions throughout Canada and the U.S.A. in New York, Georgia, Alabama, Kitchener, Mississauga, Brantford, Cambridge, Hamilton, Collingwood and Toronto.

Her work has been included in juried exhibitions in Japan, Taiwan, New York, California, Ohio, Illinois, South Dakota, Vancouver , Toronto, Thunder Bay, the Yukon, and London, Ontario. Her work is included in both private and public collections including the McMaster Museum of Art, the Toronto Dominion Centre, the American Medical Association and the University of Alabama Moody Gallery. The Shayne Gallery of Montreal, the Miriam Perlman Gallery in Chicago and Steiner Corporate Art Consultants in Toronto, have represented her. She is currently represented by Gallery Moos Ltd. in Toronto.

In recent years she has been recognized through a grant from the OAC National and International Touring Pilot Program supported a collaborative print project in the USA and through an Artist Residency program in Quebec. In 2011 she was awarded the Machteld Faas Xander Visual Arts Award for the Region of Waterloo.

Judy is Co-Chair of the Cambridge Sculpture Garden and a committee member for the Region of Waterloo Creative Enterprise Enabling Committee.
