Bio/Research

Kathleen Sills, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Visual and Performing Arts, is an Associate Professor and current Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Kathleen holds an undergraduate degree in theatre from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. from Tufts University. She is a founding member of the Lifeline Theatre in Chicago, Illinois and works in the Boston area as a freelance director and actor. At Merrimack College, Sills has directed: New York, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Laramie Project, The Exonerated, Lysistrata, Lend Me a Tenor, Dracula, Urinetown, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Moon Over Buffalo. Dr. Sills is an active respondent and serves on the Directing Team for Region 1 of the Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival. Sills’ scholarship focuses on mid-twentieth century actor training and she is a certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov method.
