Kathy Brock, professor School of Policy Studies and Department of Political Studies, Queen’s University, and past-director, Public Policy and Third Sector, School of Policy Studies. She has published numerous books (edited), academic articles and reports on voluntary organisations, citizen engagement, Canadian politics, federalism and Aboriginal issues. Her current research focuses on Canadian intergovernmental relations, State-Voluntary-Private Sector relations in Canada, and comparative Canada-US Aboriginal governance. Active in public affairs, she has served as a member, advisor and author of the National Survey of Nonprofit and Voluntary Organizations, as documentalist and occasional advisor of the Canadian Government/Voluntary Sector Initiative, as a member of the National Voluntary Sector Forum Selection Committee, as a policy advisor to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Manitoba Government, political advisor to Phil Fontaine the Grand Chief, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, and three Manitoba Political parties, and research director to the Manitoba Meech Lake Constitutional Task Force. She currently serves as an associate editor of the major public policy journal in Canada (Canadian Public Policy), as an advisor to the Transport Canada Working Group on Road Safety (Domestic and International), as a member of the Queen’s University Senate and Senate Budget Review Committee and the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations Advisory Council and on various other committees and nonprofit and advisory boards. A regular media commentator, she is non-partisan.
