Bio/Research

Research Interests Includes:

Biomimetic robotic locomotion--How do animals move the way they do? An underwater, eel-like robot used in my graduate work. Someday, I'm going to build the REEL III, which will be amphibious and will navigate in 3-D. Other possibilities include walking, crawling and flying.

Multi-robot coordination--Specifically robot teams based on distributed intelligence and parallel computing. We're working on a "mobile Beowulf cluster".

Reconfigurable robotics--We're working on building a team of identical modular robots that are capable by themselves and can combine to form larger structures.

Medical and assistive robotics--I want to get mobile robots out of the lab and find ways for them to help people in need.
