Research focuses on blood biomarkers of cardiac diseases. These include cardiac troponin, BNP and NT-proBNP, and other new emerging biomarkers in cardiology. Our laboratory is involved in Pharmacogenomics research, involving the genotyping various Cytochrome P450, transporters and other relevant polymorphisms using microarrays and next-gen sequencing methodologies. In addition a new initiative is underway to develop and validate relevant protein and small molecule biomarkers employing high-resolution mass spectrometry methods for clinical research and implementation. The ultimate goal is to translate these discoveries to foster personalized medicine in clinical practice.
