Professor Minihan-Anderson is a proud graduate of the University of Bridgeport, Fones School of Dental Hygiene. She has worked continuously in the field of clinical dental hygiene in various settings such as in private practice, orthodontics, and in a community dental health care center. Professor Minihan-Anderson began her career as an educator at Fones as an adjunct professor in 2005 and is currently a full time Assistant Professor and Dental Public Health Supervisor. She specializes in the fundamentals of instrumentation, practice administration, management, jurisprudence and the ethical practice of dental hygiene as well as dental public health program planning.
Professor Minihan-Anderson presents at the Fones School Clinical Educators Workshop and to other healthcare programs within the University in addition to the University of Bridgeport Professional Development Day.
Professor Minihan-Anderson was invited to provide an oral presentation of her original research related to the Professional Role Changes of Graduates from an Online Degree Completion Program Based in Dental Hygiene at the 2nd North American/Global Research Conference in Bethesda, MD in 2011. Additionally, she co-presented research related to Video Assisted Psychomotor Skill Development in Dental Hygiene Education as a co-principal investigator at the American Dental Hygienists’ Association 2013 Center for Lifelong Learning research poster session. Her work related to the initiation of portable delivery of care equipment in the Dental Public Health Curriculum was chosen for the American Dental Educators Association Program Directors Annual Session poster session in June 2014.
Professor Minihan-Anderson has helped write and secure grants through the Delta Dental of NJ Foundation, Inc for each academic year starting in 2012-2013 to present. She is also the Grant Project Manager for the dental hygiene department helping to coordinate the design, implementation and evaluation of programs funded by these grants and provides data for outcome reports.
Academic honors include; graduating Summa Cum Laude, recipient of the Dean’s Award, recipient of the CDHA Student Award, and she is a member of the all-academic discipline Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Professional affiliations include the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the Connecticut Dental Hygienists’ Association where she has served as a delegate for the Bridgeport component, committee member for Membership and PR, Annual Session/Continuing Education Chair, ConnHyPAC Chair, the Bridgeport component Trustee to the CDHA Board of Trustees and is currently a member of the CDHA Legislative Committee and the BDHA Secretary.
