I received my PhD in Secondary Education from the University of Alberta in 2004. My dissertation title was, “The Pastoral Counselling Students’ Experience Of Learning To Be Present With Their Clients.” I completed my Master of Divinity degree at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon in 1980 and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Calgary in 1976.
Prior to coming to Martin Luther University College (formerly Waterloo Lutheran Seminary) I was the program co-ordinator for the Master of Arts in Pastoral Psychology and Psychotherapy at St. Stephen’s College in Edmonton, AB (1998-2005). I also had a private psychotherapy practice and supervised pastoral counselling students.
I am an ordained Lutheran pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. I am also a registered psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and am certified as a specialist and teaching supervisor in pastoral counselling education with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC).
