Larry Siegel is a native New Yorker who received his Bachelor of Science in social welfare from the College of Allied Health at SUNY Stony Brook.
After working on his MSW, Siegel made a career shift and received his master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in College student personnel and higher education.
His professional experience began in Residence Life at SUNY Stony Brook and continued at Bowling Green State University and Rutgers University. His experience at Stony Brook included responsibilities as an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department teaching a course on Student Development Theory.
Siegel joined UMass Lowell in 1986, serving as the University's first director of residence life. Since that time, Siegel has held the positions of director of campus life, director of student development, dean of student life and currently serves as dean of student affairs.
Over the years, Siegel has been very active in many professional organizations and has held executive leadership positions at the local, state and regional levels.
