Bio/Research

Dr. Kivijarv joins the University of Bridgeport as an adjunct professor with four decades of experience in media management, research, consulting, and academia. He currently is Vice President of Research at PQ Media, a custom media research firm that prepares strategic intelligence for clients that include NBC Universal and Associated Press, as well as publishes annual global forecast reports on the media ecosystem, particularly relating to digital media & technology. Dr. Kivijarv is a leading authority on media spending and consumption trends, speaking at over 50 industry conferences and interviewed by more than 200 news sources, including Fox Cable News, NPR Radio, New York Times and Advertising Age. Before joining PQ Media, Dr. Kivijarv served as Research & Publications Director at Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS), an investment bank that specialized in media mergers & acquisitions, and he served as the editor of its annual media industry forecast (a role continued at PQ Media until 2012). Dr. Kivijarv began his career teaching full-time at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Northwest Missouri State University, Central Michigan University, Winthrop University, and Elizabethtown College. While teaching full-time, he was the academic advisor, producer and/or anchor/host of numerous student-produced cable and radio programs. He also was awarded a National Association of Broadcasters’ faculty internship to work at WJZ-TV in Baltimore. In addition to the University of Bridgeport, he has been an adjunct at Iona College, Sacred Heart University, Fordham University, University of Connecticut-Stamford, University of Phoenix, Manhattan College and Manhattanville College.
