Dr. Kuczynski is interested in dynamic bidirectional processes in parent-child interactions and parent-child relationships in areas such as socialization, social development and relationship formation. This involves not only an interest in parenting, namely how parents interact with and influence their children, but also an interest in filiating, namely, how children interact with and influence their parents.
Kuczynski is a developmental psychologist who does empirical and theoretical research on parent-child interactions and relationships. He received his PhD degree at the University of Toronto in 1979. From 1979 to 1985, he was a visiting research fellow and associate scientist at the Laboratory of Developmental Psychology at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Since 1985, he has been a faculty member of the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph.
