Professor Cheng recevied his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. His main research area is wireless channel modeling for challenging propagation environments, for example the propagation channel between high speed vehicles in rapid changing environments. He is also interested in graph based methods in brain connectivity and image processing.
Professor Cheng encourages undergraduate students to examine a broad range of scientific problems and appropriate technologies to meet human needs. He is interested in engaging students to explore connections between scientific concepts, and to link classroom learning with hands-on engineering practice.
