Dr. Whitehead participates in a variety of clinical activities related to Respirology and General Internal Medicine. As Director of the Tuberculosis Clinic, alliances between St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Occupational Health, Social and Public Health, The Regional Infection Control Committee and Citizenship and Immigration Canada have been forged. Her Paediatric asthma practice is growing quickly to meet the needs of the community. Recent collaboration in an asthma research project, headed by Dr. Malcolm Sears and Neil Johnston, was fruitful in providing paediatric research subjects.
Dr. Whitehead has been Program Director for the Respirology Training Program since July 2005. Many new features have been introduced to improve the quality of the educational experience for the residents. The training program has an updated and enhanced curriculum, including a Master’s Level physiology course taught by Dr. Mark Inman. The educational activities, for which each and every member of the clinical department of Respirology participates, capitalize on the strength of the division members as teachers and role models.
