Bio/Research

DR. LORRAINE BELL, is a pediatric nephrologist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics. She is the founder and Director of the Pediatric Renal Transplant Programme at the McGill University Health Centre – Montreal Children’s Hospital. Recently she was appointed Director of Pediatric Transition to Adult Healthcare. Her interest in issues related to transition is longstanding; she has authored several papers in the area and organized an international multidisciplinary consensus conference on the subject.

In 2009-2010 she was a Teaching Scholar and her project involved creation of a curriculum related to adolescent health care transition. In her new role as Transition Director, she plans to further develop projects related to teaching of transition to patients and families, residents, teaching hospital staff and community partners. Her other areas of interest in medical education include teaching the non-medical expert CanMEDS roles, particularly advocacy, communication and professionalism.
