Lorraine Gilbert has had an artistic practice since 1979. Her work can be found in numerous private and public, national and international collections, the latest acquisition having been made in 2003 by the Vancouver Art Gallery. She has exhibited at the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, the National Gallery of Canada, the Dalhousie Art Gallery, and at the Ottawa Art Gallery. Lorraine Gilbert has been teaching visual arts at the University of Ottawa since 1989, as well as at Concordia University in Montreal and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. This image, The Last Photography Class' is the most recent in a long series of self-portraits, spanning several bodies of work since the early 1980's.
