Thomson, trained as a field entomologist, heads the Africa Regional Program at Columbia’s International Research Institute for Climate and Society. Her research focuses on the development of tools for health services in poor countries where climate and environment are a major determinant of disease transmission. In addition, she has conducted operational research in support of large-scale health interventions, mostly in Africa.
