All of my degrees are in English Literature: I received my PhD from the University of Western Ontario in 2003, my MA from York University in 1993 and my BA Honours from Carleton University in 1992. During this training, I specialized in literary and interdisciplinary cultural and feminist and poststructuralist/postmodern theories.
My research focuses on feminist ethics, an area that considers the relationships that exist/could exist between two subjects. More recently, I have concentrated on relationships that go by the name of “love,” and ask who/what are considered subjects/objects of love? Also, what is named/not named as “love?” I am a co-founder and co-convenor of the international research group “The Feminist Love Studies Network,” which emphasizes love as a potentially productive force for feminist and other political groups. I also write about the methodological implications of the recent affective/emotional turn where emotion is not only what is being studied, but how it is being studied. I am now involved with another group of scholars who are helping to consolidate the area of "Feminist Food Studies."
