Bio/Research

Maria Krisch's research deals with the unique properties of liquid-vapor interfaces, and how these properties impact photochemical reactions. The reactivity of liquid surfaces affects the chemistry of atmospheric aerosols, which have a high surface to volume ratio. Krisch comes to Trinity from a postdoctoral research position with John Hemminger at the University of California, Irvine, where she studied the structure of liquid interfaces on a molecular scale. Her doctoral work with Laurie Butler at the University of Chicago focused on the fundamental dynamics of gas phase photochemical reactions in systems of interest to atmospheric and combustion chemistry.

Krisch’s educational goal at Trinity, whether through classroom teaching or research, is to help students gain a lasting appreciation for the process of scientific discovery.
