Bio/Research

Dr. Graybill’s primary area of expertise is American literature, including early American (before 1850), modern (1914-1945), and contemporary and postmodern (1945-present). He teaches a variety of special topics courses, including Southern Literature and African-American Literature. His recent scholarly activities include a book chapter on hypermasculinity and sport in James Dickey’s novel Deliverance, an encyclopedia entry on Benjamin Franklin’s “Letter of Advice to a Young Man on Choosing a Mistress,” and a conference presentation on reading Flannery O’Connor after 9/11.
