Test taking, job interviews, competition, approaching a romantic partner and public speaking can all induce stress, but what factors contribute to resilience versus vulnerability to potential stressors?When and how does an individual’s self-esteem, troubled past or current relationships serve as a resource or a vulnerability?Mark Seery’s research tries to answer these questions.Research conducted in Seery’s laboratory incorporates a range of methodological approaches, including theoretically grounded psychophysiological measures. Funding from the National Science Foundation has supported his work.His research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology; Psychological Science; and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.
