Bio/Research

Mary Francoli received her Ph.D. in political science from The University of Western Ontario. She was the Leverhulme Visiting Fellow in New Media and Internet Politics at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2006/2007.

She is interested in the impact of new media on governance, the state and society. Her research is largely focused on the idea of the 'digital commons' and how new forms of 'e-participation' affect the relationship between citizens and elected representatives.

Current Research

Exploring Political Aps – This study looks at political applications found on Facebook. It surveys the types of applications available to users and questions their utility.

From e-Gov to the Wiki world – This study looks at how the attention of government has shifted from e-governance to the Web 2.0 environment. It explores organizational and legal barriers that complicate the adoption of interactive technology in the workplace.
