Matthew Landauer is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Chicago. His research and teaching interests are in classical political thought, especially Athenian democracy; rhetoric and political counsel; the relationship between science and politics; and democratic theory. His current book project draws on the works of Greek orators, historians, dramatists, and philosophers to analyze the politics of accountability and advice across ancient democratic and autocratic contexts. His research has been published or is forthcoming in journals such as Political Theory, History of Political Thought, and Polis.
