Janow, head of the international economic policy concentration at Columbia, has written extensively on U.S.-Japan and U.S.-Asian economic and trade relations as well as international economic law and policy subjects. Because of her expertise, she has advised several external organizations, including the World Trade Organization and the U.S. Department of Justice. In the early 1990s, she was deputy assistant U.S. trade representative for Japan and China at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), executive office of the president.
