Dr. Merali's research has been recognized by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (Metropolis) as a prototype for knowledge transfer between university-based researchers and government policy-makers. She has been invited to present her policy related research to the directors of various branches of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Dr. Merali has presented her work at a variety of national and international conferences. She is also an experienced consultant for immigrant-serving agencies, being involved in a leadership role in ethnic community needs assessments, program design and evaluation, and staff training.
