Peter Graefe research interests, flow from a broad interest in Canadian political economy and public policy, which include: Quebec's social and economic development policies; provincial social assistance policies; federal and provincial intergovernmental relations strategies; and policies dealing with the social economy or nonprofit sector.
His current primary research project involves studying recent federal-provincial social policy agreements to assess the extent that they promote interprovincial policy convergence or diversity. Other ongoing research projects include the analysis of public policy discourses related to the social economy/third sector, and the study of the interplay of class politics and nationalism in the making of social and economic policy in Quebec.
