Bio/Research

I worked for my first 10 years in pure mathematics (analysis and convexity.a student of John Coleman, Israel Halperin and Andy Gleason), but in the mid 70's I became interested in the applications of game theory to animal behaviour, and that has led me, over the next years, to a completely new field. That's been a great change for me, and over the last 25 years the study of evolutionary ecology has provided more than enough of fascination and challenge and has given me a superb set of collaborators and grad students. I have always been interested in teaching issues, but starting in the mid 80's my attention became increasingly focused on high school curriculum and the preparation of teachers,. and this is now a second research area for me. I am cross-appointed to both the Biology Department and the Faculty of Education.
