Prior to joining McGill in July 1997, Richard Donovan worked at a top Canadian life insurance company for 8 years, where he held positions such as Systems Consultant, Senior Training and Development Consultant, and as a Production Manager supervising a staff of eighteen. Since his arrival at McGill, he has won outstanding teaching awards and student life awards on thirteen (13) occasions including most recently being listed in MacLean’s Guide to Canadian Universities (2006 ed.) as one of two Popular Professors in McGill Management.
In March 2006, he co-authored the 3rd Canadian Edition of Information Systems for the Information Age by McGraw-Hill after co-authoring the 2nd edition in February 2003
Prior to being Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Program from January 2001 to December 2004, Richard was and is currently the area coordinator for the Information Systems area. He continues to design and teach courses in the I.S. and Strategy areas specializing in Management’s “Introduction to I.S.”, ‘Case Analysis and Presentation” and more advanced I.S. courses such as “IT in Business” and “IT Consulting”. He also teaches and consults for the Center for International Management Studies (CIMS), McGill’s MBA / Japan program as well as at McGill’s International Executive Institute.
