Bio/Research

Dr. Manderville's research interests focus broadly on the structure, function and biological activity of modified DNA oligonucleotides.

He received his Ph.D. degree in organic C=chemistry from Queen’s University in 1992 under the supervision of Professor Erwin Buncel. In the fall of 1992, he joined Professor Sidney Hecht’s laboratories at the University of Virginia and studied the interactions of bleomycin anticancer agents with duplex DNA substrates. In 1995 he joined the Department of Chemistry at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and started his independent research career. On July 1, 2004, he returned to Canada and joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Guelph.

Manderville is a member of the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC), the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the author of over 130 refereed publications. He is also an NSERC reviewer: NSERC-RTI 2015 and 2016; NSERC-Discovery EG 1504, 2021-2023.
