Seager, a climatologist whose findings have been widely reported, has recently studied the mechanisms of persistent North American drought and its relation to tropical Pacific and tropical Atlantic temperature variations. This work led him to research megadroughts throughout the last millennium in the American West as well as research into the   “hydrological future” of the West.
