Bio/Research

Robert Ame received an MA and PhD from the School of Criminology, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada, and BA (Cand. Mag.) in criminology and MPhil (Cand. Sociol.) in sociology from the University of Oslo, Norway. He also obtained BA (Hons) in Sociology with Psychology, from the University of Ghana, Legon-Accra.

His research interests in human rights include children’s rights, female ritual servitude, and truth and reconciliation Commissions. His work in criminology focuses on the youth justice system in Ghana, sociology of law, and restorative justice.

His current projects include assessment of Ghana’s juvenile justice system, a follow-up study of liberated trokosi women in Ghana and a human rights assessment of Ghana’s mental health law.

He is an Honorary Research Associate at the Department of Sociology, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB.
