Bio/Research

My general research interests are in the areas of children's socio-emotional functioning and developmental psychopathology. In particular, I am interested in the development of shyness, social withdrawal, and social anxiety in childhood. My most recent research projects have focused on risk and protective factors in the etiology of childhood social anxiety, including child characteristics (i.e., temperament, emotion regulation), social cognitions (i.e., attributions), peer interactions (i.e., play behaviors), parents (i.e., disciplinary styles, belief systems), and teachers (i.e., teacher-child relationships, teacher beliefs).
