Professor Godin's main teaching and research interests lie in property law. He has written and published a number of articles and participated as a contributor to a number of collective works, dealing for the most part with subjects related to real estate law and practice, the law of trusts as applied to commercial transactions and commercial leasing. Over the years, he has been actively involved in the process of revision leading to the adoption and implementation of the Civil Code of Québec in 1994. He has presided over several committees of the Québec Bar (Property, Hypothecs and other forms of security, Registration of Real Rights), and has participated in committees dealing with aspects of the revision including legislation dealing with the implementation of the new Code. More recently, he was a member of one of the committees dealing with the ongoing revision of the Code of Civil Procedure.
