Dr. Fainsinger obtained the CCFP in 1990 and completed the first fellowship in palliative care medicine at the University of Alberta in the same year. Since then, he has worked with the Palliative Care Program at the Edmonton General Hospital and Grey Nuns Hospital. He was Director of the Palliative Care Program at the Royal Alexandra Hospital from October 1994 to April 2006. He is presently a Professor in the Division of Palliative Care Medicine, Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta.
