Rohan Kekre’s main interests are in macroeconomics and international finance, with additional interests in public economics and finance. His current research focuses on the design of monetary, fiscal, and macroprudential policies over the business cycle, motivated by debates emerging from the U.S. Great Recession and Eurozone crisis in recent years. In his latest work he has characterized the role of unemployment insurance as a particular instrument of discretionary fiscal policy, both in theory and in practice.
