Bio/Research

Dr. Maitzen teaches upper-level and graduate classes focusing on the history of the novel and on 19th century British literature, with a special interest in 19th century historical writing and in 19th century theories of fiction and ethics which is the current focus of her research. She also teaches an introductory class combining instruction in grammar and composition with literary analysis.
