An economist whose research interests include growth and income distribution, education, and cities; the links between economics and psychology; inflation, price-setting, and markups. Benabou is a fellow of the Econometric Society, an associate of the Institute for Research on Poverty, and an NBER faculty research fellow. He is an associate editor of the Quarterly Journal of Economics and of the Journal of Economic Growth, and a foreign editor of the Review of Economic Studies. His articles include “Unequal Societies: Income Distribution and the Social Contract” (American Economic Review); “Inequality and Growth” (NBER Macroeconomics Annual); and “Equity and Efficiency in Human Capital Investment: The Local Connection” (Review of Economic Studies).
