Bio/Research

Prof. Dara is the Principal Investigator of Data Management and Data Governance research program at the University of Guelph. Her research focuses on Big Data analytics, data mining, and data governance with a particular focus on applications such as privacy enhancing technologies, social intelligence, and precision agriculture. Dara has successfully obtained funding from government and industry. She is a Member of the IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems.

Dara's research program cuts across several disciplines including privacy, artificial intelligence, and data governance. To support this multidisciplinary program, she has established collaborative efforts with various industries (e.g. Agri-food companies), law agencies, government agencies (e.g. Office of Information Privacy Commissioner of Canada).

Dara has been invited to many events to speak about the emerging trends in the use of Information and Communications Technologies (e.g. Blockchain and the Internet of Things) in agri-food and livestock production.
